Panasonic RAW Editing on a Mac
Every Lumix camera that shoots RAW — full-frame S series, Micro Four Thirds G series, and the advanced compacts — writes .RW2, and RW2 opens in RevelRaw: drag a file in and AI scene detection ranks 40+ presets against the photograph, with the full set of fine-tune controls on top. Everything runs on your Mac; no file ever leaves it. This page collects what's on the site for Panasonic shooters.

Guides for Panasonic shooters
- What is an RW2 file? — what the file stores, which bodies write it, and how to open one on a Mac.
Editor comparisons for specific Lumix bodies are on the way; the format guide above covers any Panasonic camera in the meantime.
What to know before your first edit
The Lumix-specific point is corrections are part of the design: Micro Four Thirds lenses and the fixed zooms on compacts like the LX and TZ lines assume software will straighten distortion and lift vignetting, and the RW2 carries the correction profile to do it. Good RAW software applies it silently; software that doesn't will show you curved horizons at the wide end and make you think the lens is broken. It isn't — the projection just hasn't been corrected yet. And as everywhere: Photo Styles are metadata, applied to the camera's JPEG preview but not to the RAW, so every editor starts neutral.
Open an RW2 in RevelRaw and it decodes the sensor data on your Mac, classifies the scene, and ranks its 40+ presets so the most relevant looks surface first — then you fine-tune exposure, color, curves and grain, and export as JPEG, PNG, TIFF or HEIF with platform presets for Instagram, print and web.
FAQ
Does RevelRaw open RW2 files?
Yes — from Lumix mirrorless bodies and advanced compacts, with every editing control available on them.
Does RevelRaw render Photo Styles?
No — the style is metadata applied to the camera's JPEG preview. Editors start from the neutral sensor data.
Why does my Lumix RAW look distorted in some apps?
The lens expects mandatory software corrections carried in the file. An app showing curved horizons is skipping them.
Why won't my RW2 open on my Mac?
A just-released body can wait for Apple's RAW support. RAW+JPEG covers you meanwhile.
