## What to know before your first edit

The Lumix-specific point is **corrections are part of the design**: Micro Four Thirds lenses and the fixed zooms on compacts like the LX and TZ lines assume software will straighten distortion and lift vignetting, and the RW2 carries the correction profile to do it. Good RAW software applies it silently; software that doesn't will show you curved horizons at the wide end and make you think the lens is broken. It isn't — the projection just hasn't been corrected yet. And as everywhere: **Photo Styles are metadata**, applied to the camera's JPEG preview but not to the RAW, so every editor starts neutral.
